Amarillo Star, Inc. Line Dancing
Amarillo Star Inc. is a non-for profit social organization with the primary mission to promote Country/Western Dance. Amarillo Star began in 1989 with 70 members. Through the years Amarillo Star membership reached a peak of 700 members in 1994. The Amarillo Star Board of Directors is comprised of 12 directors, two chapter chairpersons, and four chapter delegates that meet on quarterly basis. The Board's structure includes a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The current Amarillo Star Board President is Dave Hayes who can be contacted at 219-874-3624.There are two Amarillo Star Chapters that function as a committee of the Board of Directors. Each chapter has a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and two delegates elected annually by the Chapter members. Chapter 2 membership includes the South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart area; and Chapter 3 covers the LaPorte & Porter County areas.Both chapters hold monthly dances that are open to the public with line and partner/couples dancing to DJ music. Chapter 2 dances are held at the Crumstown Conservation Club, 59440 Crumstown Highway, North Liberty, Indiana. Chapter 3 dances are held at the American Legion Skwiat Post 451, 121 Skwiat Legion Avenue, Michigan City, Indiana. Membership advantages include a reduced fee at monthly Amarillo Star Chapter dances, free admission to the annual Amarillo Star Board picnic, and free admission to Amarillo Star chapter special events held throughout the year and a reduced fee at some Amarillo Star dance class lessons (at the instructor's discretion).Dancing is an excellent form of exercise and stress reducer. Come and meet new people, have a lot of fun and make new friends. The club welcomes dancers and family members of all ages and levels of dancing. It is not necessary to have a partner to enjoy the pleasures and enjoyment of dancing. |
